Ippocalyptica The Sewer Fiend songs are wonderfully death-doomy and all of that, and set the stage rather gloomily for the furious death metal torrent unleashed by Plague Patrol over the next three tracks. These bands are both fairly new and if this material is any indication, then they are both definitely worthy of your current and ongoing attention. Dry Cough is thrilled to be handling the UK/Euro cassette version and co-releasing a vinyl pressing of the brand new split from UK dank death-doom dealers Sewer Fiend, and Czech OSDM monstrosity, Plague Patrol.

To date, both bands have only one release each under their belts, and Dry Cough was lucky enough to have a hand in both; Sewer Fiend's being their 'Echoes From The Cistern' EP, which was so well received that I had to do three runs of the cassette, all of which sold out' as well as seeing runs in both the US and South America via Sewer Rot Records and Black Legion Records resepectively, plus a CD pressing on Japan's Obliteration Records.
Plague Patrol's Demo 2021 was as equally well acclaimed; I sold out of the Dry Cough run pretty quickly, with Headsplit (US), PsychoControl (Czech Republic) and Gutless Productions (Indonesia) all issuing their own tape versions, and Behind The Mountain (Poland) committing the release to CD in 2022.

Thankfully, and as expected, the year long wait for new material from both bands has been thoroughly worth it.

Sewer Fiend's side of the split consists of two tracks of the dense and atmospheric death-doom that so many fell in love with after hearing the band's first release. Expect another unhealthy dose of their mutant blend of oozing, gargantuan riffs and ghastly growls, insterspersed with dark psychedelic flourishes, underpinned by grotesque, meandering basslines and intense, pummelling beats.
Plague Patrol draw once more upon the horror of the John Carpenter movie, The Thing; marrying their infatuation with this classic sci-fi flick with their love of no nonesense OSDM. Three tracks of unrelenting, frenzied riffing and desperate, anxiety-inducing vocals, riddled with doom and a permeating sense of dread.

This monstrous split will drag it's deformed bulk into the world of man on Friday 16th December in the form of cassette, courtesy of Dry Cough Records, Headsplit Records, and PsychoControl Records; with the same three labels plus Calvos73 Records, issuing a vinyl release sometime in early 2023.

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names. Bertrand Marchal
